SIERRA BLANCA, Texas (KXAN) - Willie Nelson may not see jail time for his arrest earlier last week in West Texas .

Several news outlets including E-Online report Nelson's charges have been reduced from felony charges for allegedly being caught with 6 ounces of Marijuana, to a misdemeanor charge for being in possession of 4 ounces.

KXAN.com attempted several times to reach officials at the Hudspeth County Sheriff's office but we were told there would be no comment until Monday.

The shift in weight means instead of Nelson facing 180 days in jail and a $10,000 fine the singer will face a much less penalty.

"He said he feels great—he lost six ounces," Nelson's longtime harmonica player, Mickey Raphael, joked to Rolling Stone.

Nelson was arrested in Hudspeth County on November 26th at a border patrol checkpoint.

Nelson's website Friday posted a call for donations to the Hudspeth County Sheriff's office Gifts for the Children program.
