LAKE TRAVIS (KXAN) - A landmark destination on Lake Travis is celebrating the opening of a big expansion project.? The Oasis Restaurant is now a much larger complex called "Oasis, Texas."
It has two new restaurants, soon new retail and possibly a "boutique hotel" in the future.?
The sunset capital of Texas shines a little brighter on the cliffs 450 feet above Lake Travis.

Soleil, a new Mediterranean-Italian seafood restaurant and Uncle Billy's bbq and brew house are now open.? They're attached to the Oasis and offer similar picture perfect views.

"What this does now for this whole community out here is provide more variety," said Rick Engel, a partner in the project.
A live music stage will be built by New Year's Eve, 35 retail shops will be complete in January, and office space is nearly finished next to a new 4-story parking garage that was built to accommodate the crowds.? Condos and a boutique hotel may be next.
"Now you've got a lot more options all in one place and you can really? almost make a destination activity out of this for a day," said Engel.? "The whole idea was to bring in people throughout the year during different? day parts and to make it a lot more frequency," he said.
Just to the south, the Lakeway Regional Medical Center is being built.? The level two trauma center will include a helipad.?
According to the Chamber of Commerce, a hotel, restaurants, retail and more offices will be built nearby.

"We have seen certainly the effect of the downward economy but we're? starting to see a trend an upward trend in membership and real estate? agents joining again which seems to be a good sign," said Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce President Laura Mitchell.

The project partners at Oasis, Texas say the retail shops will be made up of local Austin favorites but we don't know what they'll be yet.? They also plan to have street performers and vendors, as well as an ice skating rink during the holidays.? The large deck spaces will also be available for weddings.
