AUSTIN (KXAN) - A driver died on South Mopac early Sunday morning after losing control and crashing his truck.

The wreck happened around 2 a.m. at the MoPac intersection with South Highway 360 near Barton Creek Square Mall.

The truck ran off the road and hit a light pole.

The driver was pinned in the truck and died at the scene.

Austin police have not identified the driver.

APD investigators suspect alcohol was involved, but they won't know for sure until later in the week.

Witnesses report the truck driving around 90-miles-per-hour and weaving in and out of traffic.

Police used thermal imaging in their helicopter to search the woods for a possible passenger.

Some debris from the crash hit a Honda Civic that was driving by, but that driver was not hurt.
