AUSTIN (KXAN) - A woman appeared to take off with a man's wallet after he accidentally left it on a gas station counter.

It happened at the Tiger Mart at U.S. 183 and Burleson in South Austin. A surveillance camera caught the theft.

Jim Ghedi said his wallet contained $500 meant to be Christmas bonuses for his employees. He said he couldn't believe how the woman just walked out with it after it sat for 3 minutes on the counter.

"I'm very disappointed that during this time in the season someone would take someone's wallet and just be cavalier about it," said Ghedi.

He said he contacted police repeatedly about watching the video before it was automatically deleted. When APD never came, he took matters into his own hands, capturing the video with his iPhone and posting it on YouTube.

APD told KXAN the case was suspended because there was no suspect information. They weren't able to tell us why nobody watched the video.

Ghedi told us police contacted him about watching the video after our calls.
