Police working Halloween night homicide

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police are investigating a deadly stabbing in East Austin.

Authorities said they were dispatched for a disturbance at Pleasant Valley Road and Riverside Drive just after 10p.m. on Sunday. When they arrived they found a man who had been stabbed lying in the road.

He was taken to University Medical Center at Brackenridge where he was pronounced dead 20 minutes later.

Police said the suspect ran off.

"Witnesses pointed out the direction the suspect traveled and the description, and the suspect was apprehended nearby," said Dennis Farris, Senior Police Officer with the Austin Police Department.

So far no charges have been filed and the victim and suspects names have not been released.

Police are still investigating a motive.
