AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin Police are investigating after a jewelry heist at Sam's Club in northwest Austin.

The store on Capital of Texas Highway between 183 and MoPac was hit just after midnight.

Austin Police say a group of three men used sledgehammers to bust in. They quickly stole whatever jewelry they could get their hands on, then took off.

There were some workers in the store at the time, most were overnight shelf-stockers. They ran to the back of the store when the burglars busted in, several called 911. No one was hurt.

Witnesses could not give investigators any description of the suspects, nor could anyone tell police which direction the gang took off in.?

Police say they have learned about a string of similar break-ins at Sam's Clubs around Texas, they're investigating to see if the crimes may be tied together.
