AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) - A South Austin family is counting their blessings tonight after escaping from a fire.
The Austin Fire Department fought the fire in South Austin at 8507 Romney Road , which?was knocked down by AFD with minimal damage. Firefighters told KXAN Austin News all occupants of that home?have reportedly made it out safely. Officials say the fire began after a clothes dryer malfunctioned.
According to officials the fire was heavy when crews arrived. Officials said no one was home at the time but a neighbor who noticed flames called to report the incident.
This is the second fire in South Austin tonight. An earlier fire at 2309 Wagon Crossing Path ?also gave firefighters a fight but they were able to bring it under control with minimal damage.
